Our Business

We are entering a new era for portal business, where individuals become the media.

Broadband networks, which began spreading rapidly in 2001 at the dawn of the 21st century, have become gigabit networks. Internet access from mobile phones, which began in 1999, is now embracing the wireless broadband environment made possible by 3G phones and wireless LAN connection. These revolutionary advances in the Internet environment are creating dramatically new business models and values.

Based on the founding mission of “creating new contextual business models”, Digital Garage has built new businesses that allow individual consumers to enjoy the full beneWts of today’s new IT environment powered by the Internet, such as Kakaku.com, DG Mobile, Technorati Japan (the core DG’s blog business), as well as 4travel and tabelog.com, which are all new-concept media sites utilizing CGM. Digital Garage also believes that the flow of CGM-driven information over the Internet will become an increasingly important element in the business activities of companies. Accordingly, we have joined forces with leading advertising agencies to establish CGM Marketing, Inc. as a bridge between business-generated information and CGM. In our portal/blog business we will progress toward further “context creation” through collaborative efforts among Group companies, and thereby accelerate the convergence of business-generated information and CGM.
