Digital Garage Establishes Web Advertising Company DG Media Marketing
to Cover a Wide Range of Group Media, Including Kakaku.com and Technorati.jp and Other Major Media
Original tools for evaluating effect of Web advertising to be developed
Digital Garage, Inc. (JASDAQ Security code:4819, Head office:Shibuya-ku,
Tokyo, President & Group CEO:Kaoru Hayashi, henceforth DG)
will establish a new company, DG
Media Marketing, Inc. (provisional name), which will deal
in Web advertising, on March 27 (scheduled date). The company
is a joint venture with other group companies, including Kakaku.com,
Inc. (TSE Stock code: 2371, Head office: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo,
President and CEO: Yoshiteru Akita, henceforth Kakaku.com).
The Web ad market is expected to expand from 181.4 billion
yen in 2004 to 566 billion yen in 2009. The earning power
of major portal sites is expanding accordingly.
In an era of rapidly expanding Web advertising, DG Group
has many excellent media properties, such as "kakaku.com"
(7 million unique users), the price comparison website operated
by Kakaku.com; "4travel.jp"
(1.9 million users), the word-of-mouth communication website
for travel operated by a subsidiary of Kakaku.com; and "Technorati.jp",
the blog search website covering more than 90% of the rapidly
growing domestic blog market, which accounts for more than
2.5 million active users. Backed by these group resources,
we concluded that DG has a clear advantage in entering the
Web advertising market.
The new company, DG Media Marketing, will handle a wide range
of media businesses alongside its product development and
proposal-oriented business, taking advantage of the characteristics
of the group’s media holdings.
By developing solutions for evaluating the effects of Web
advertising and making proposals from its own unique perspective,
the new company will offer services supporting the overall
media marketing activities of client companies. In particular,
by making the most of the characteristics of group media platforms,
which have a large number of high-end users with significant
interest in making purchases on the Web, we plan to advance
our business while focusing on service development and business
planning from the viewpoint of being sales agents acting on
behalf of client companies.
