Joichi Ito, Co-Founder and Chief Architect of Digital Garage, Appointed as the Next President of the Chiba Institute of Technology

Digital Garage, Inc. (TSE Prime section: 4819; HQ: Tokyo; Representative Director, President Executive Officer and Group CEO: Kaoru Hayashi; DG) announces that Joichi Ito, Co-Founder and Chief Architect of DG, will become the next President of Chiba Institute of Technology (Office: Narashino-shi, Chiba; Chairman: Osamu Setokuma), from July 1, 2023.

In November 2021, Joichi Ito was appointed Director of the Center for Radical Transformation established at the Chiba Institute of Technology, Japan’s first antidisciplinary research facility. Joichi Ito has been advancing research in fields such as web3 and artificial intelligence, aiming to imagine, design, and build new technology platforms of knowledge and cultural outputs that can enhance society.

Various technological innovations have emerged in recent years, digitalized society and DX are being implemented, but Japan needs more engineers and scientists. Through his appointment as president, Joichi Ito will contribute to the sustainable development of human resources from his respective positions in both industry and academia.

Joichi Ito will continue to serve as the Co-Founder and Chief Architect of DG, directing the design of digital architecture utilizing next-generation technology. Joichi Ito will oversee DG’s operations and foster a new form of collaboration between the industry and academia, in partnership with the Chiba Institute of Technology.

I have worked in supporting Dx and the technical capability of Japan through my role at Digital Garage. I’m honored and excited to additionally contribute to Japan and the world through this new role. I will continue in my role at Digital Garage and appreciate and look forward to the collaborations. Chiba Institute of Technology is a university with 17 departments in 5 undergraduate and 5 graduate schools, located on 3 campuses around Narashino City, Chiba Prefecture. About 10,000 students are studying to learn knowledge and problem-solving skills beyond their specialty areas. Three faculty of Innovative Information Science and two of Innovative Management Science will be newly established in 2024. In collaboration with the “Henkaku Center,” this program aims to foster engineers (human resources) capable of transforming society by emphasizing a strong interest in various academic fields and social structures and things rather than just training IT engineers with knowledge and skills.
